Guide of the Liverworts and Hornworts of Java
Liverworts and hornworts are important organisms in tropical ecosystems. Thick mats of liverworts cover the trees and branches in the lush tropical mountain forests, and play an important role in the retention of water, soil conservation and erosion control. these sensitive plants also serve as indicators of ecological disturbance and air quality. This book is the first modern identification manual for the liverworts and hornworts pf java and for Indonesia in general. It provides keys and selected illustrations for about 450 species, in 114 genera and 43 families, recorded from Java. In addition, introductory chapters on the morphology, ecology and classification of liverworts and hornworts of Java are also provided.
